Vietjet Air Review. Are they good?
I had 2 domestic flights with Vietjet during my stay between Dalat and Ho Chi Minh City and another flight between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon. Both are short flights so I didn’t expected much. VJ is a low-cost airline and they are the second largest airline in Vietnam. They have been known for their cheap fares compared to other carriers and delay. In Vietnam, some people called them a ‘ delay’ airlines because most of their flights haven’t departed on-time. And flight delay can get to more than 5h and I did have that experience in the past when I flew back to Dalat from Ho Chi Minh City with Vietjet.
Luckily, both of my flights didn’t experience any delays, they all departed on-time and the crew was super friendly and helpful, which was impressive. Unfortunately, I didn’t take much photos because both of my flights were full and people were not that friendly so I was scared of taking any photos.
The seat was similar to the above photo as VJ is a low-cost airline so the width of the seat were similar to other airlines but we got less legroom and space than other airlines. However for short-haul flight, I think it was good enough and I didn’t have any complains about that.
For my first flight, The flight duration was 30 minutes so after take-off, the crew just walked a long the cabin to check if any passengers wanted to buy something and then the aircraft was already descended for landing so there didn’t any things to take from this flight. For my second flight, we departed at peak hour ( around 6pm) and it lasted for 1h5'. Both of my flights were operated with 1st Gen Airbus 321 Neo. However, there weren’t much food option in my second flight so I didn’t buy anything. I tried some before and the food was good.
In term of quality, the service was fine, the seat was decent and the price was reasonable and cheap. For domestic flights that are longer than 1h, you can pre-order meals on their website during your booking. For shorter flight, I’m not sure because I tried once before but they didn’t allow me to do that. Here are some photos that I took from the flights through my windows.
In overall, I had a good experience with Vietjet. For domestic flights, I usually consider choosing Vietjet because their fares are cheaper than other competitors such as Vietnam Airlines or Bamboo AIrways. Although the airline does delay some flights, their reputation in the market is pretty good so pray for luck when flying with them. Your flight would depart on-time, who know.
Vietjet has received a lot of brand new aircrafts in recent-year especially the Airbus 321 Neo so their fleet is pretty up-to-date. They operate Airbus 320 and 330 family excluding the A320 NEO and 330 NEO but the airline ordered the A330 NEO and 737MAX so I’m looking forward to fly with these brand new airpplanes in the future.
