Stellar Late-Night Flight: A Remarkable Qantas Redemption Experience

Welcome back ! After several days in Sydney, I took a flight back to Melbourne with Qantas. Before that, I was chilling with my friends and had a great dinner before catching the train from Central Station to the airport. This flight was wonderful and it was a truly redemption after dissapointed my several days ago haha. I took the final domestic flight of the day departed from Sydney. Here is the review:

Flight number: QF 499 SYD-MEL

Aircraft: Boeing 737-838

Economy class

Qantas Boeing 737-838

Qantas Boeing 737-838

Different than the previous flight, the aircraft that took me on this flight has a new livery so I thought the interior would be the latest. And yes, I was right. The flight was not fully-booked so the middle seat was empty and I finally got a window seat this time.

Qantas Boeing 737-800 new seat feature

There is an IFE ( In-flight entertainment) screen on each seat, which comes with an un-foldable tray table, good seat pocket and of course, very good legroom. Not only for this 1h15’ flight, this won’t be a doubt for longer flight such as flights to Perth, New Zealand , Bali ( Denpasar). For long-haul flight, this seat still make us comfortable I believed. There is also a headrest at every seat.

Charger located under the seat, which is good

As this was the final domestic flight of the day at Sydney Airport, there weren’t too much flights so we had an on-time departure and arrival including pushback, etc. 15 minutes after take-off, the crew came with heavy trolley to serve late-night snack and beverages. Wow, I didn’t expect that because it was a late flight ( 10pm) and already pass dinner time , which was perfect. Every passenger got a Portuguese Chicken with Mango Lime Jam Ciabatta and drinks. I went for a Ginger beer can while my mate at the aisle seat had a cup of red wine. Here is what did it look like:

IFE screen was a little bit slow so I didn’t try much. However, Qantas has a wide entertainment network that offer plenty of movies and music, which is great. I did check the lavatory and I had nothing to concern. Good size bathroom with adequate amenities and of course, very clean. For the rest of the flight, I spent my time in enjoying the view through the window.

My favorite photo from the view

As the aircraft is equipped with a brand new interior design for the Boeing 737-800, the cabin color was set to purple blue so I couldn’t take much photos due to the light reflection. That’s the end of my redemption with Qantas, which was wonderful and I had nothing to complain about the service. Service was great, the crew was energetic, friendly and kind although they had to finish their final flight of day at this hour, which made me grateful.

That was my experience, what’s your? Share them in the comment below:
